Referendum in Switzerland: Jura canton (case study)

Bachelor's thesis "Referendum in Switzerland: Jura canton (case study)" discusses the possibilities and limitations of use of referenda as an element of direct democracy. The thesis explores purely specific postition of referendum and the use of its types in the political system of Switzerland, which is displayed on the case of procedure, which led to the establishment of the new canton of Jura. Firstly, general typologies of referenda are introduced, from which subsequently, is reflected in decribing the status and the very types of basic elements of direct democracy, which are used in Switzerland. It is also explained the genesis of creation canton of Jura, where through the methods of descriptive content analysis and theory of consociational democracy the process of creating the canton of Jura and the creation itself, which took place through the popular vote in a federal reference.
